A few numbers from the first half reflect the dominance of the Crowder Lady Roughriders in their Region 16 game Saturday afternoon against Jefferson at Bob Sneller Gymnasium.

Crowder sophomore Coley Ickes, a former standout at McDonald County High, scored the game’s first seven points in a span of 2 minutes, 29 seconds.

By comparison, it took Jefferson until 7:45 of the second quarter to reach seven points.

The Lady Vikings went the first 4:57 without a point and the first 6:07 without a field goal, as they strung together their only scoring run of the half with a 4-0 on their first points and then their first field goal.

Ickes and Elle Williams each matched or surpassed Jefferson’s effort, with Ickes scoring 12 points and Williams nine en route to a 43-9 halftime lead.

The Lady ‘Riders put together a 20-5 first and a 23-4 second quarter en route to that 34-point halftime lead and earned their 16th win of the season with a 73-36 final score.

Crowder, 16-6 overall and 3-1 Region 16, returns to action Wednesday on the road against Region 16 leader Moberly. Moberly ran its record to 22-0 overall and 5-0 Region 16 after a 76-63 win Saturday over Three Rivers; Moberly’s ranked No. 7 overall in NJCAA Division I.

The Lady ‘Riders take a four-game winning streak up against an unbeaten team.

On Saturday, Ickes finished with a game-high 16 points to pace the Lady ‘Riders, while Williams and Zahria White finished in double-digits with 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Ten different Crowder players reached the scoring column and former Neosho High standout and Crowder freshman Sydney Linny finished with five points.

Maegan Bandimere added seven points, while Michaela Mack and Morgan Crawford each netted five and Alex Vogt and Aubrie Ayers each had four. Bethaney Gilkey scored two points.

Mack, Crawford, Williams, and White each grabbed four rebounds. Crawford distributed three assists. Mack recorded two steals.

Shannyn Triplett led Jefferson with 13 points, 11 of which she netted in the second half. Cheyenne Randle added eight points for the 5-11 overall and 0-4 Region 16 Lady Vikings.

Crowder improved to 9-1 at home.
