JEFFERSON CITY — The Neosho Lady Wildcats earned back-to-back wins with a 51-48 victory Saturday over host Helias Catholic in the fourth annual Central Bank Shootout at Rackers Fieldhouse.

Makayla Hayes led the Lady Wildcats with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Allison Burr finished with 12 points. Caitlyn Jordon scored seven before fouling out with 2 minutes, 49 seconds remaining in regulation, Madison Flynn had six, and Emilee Kivett five.

Meanwhile, for Helias Catholic, Erin Wyrick led the way with 13 points, Ellie Rockers tallied 12 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double, and Taylor Koelling picked up a dozen more points, as the Helias Catholic trio combined for 37 points.

Neosho improved to 14-6 overall and the Lady Wildcats have, weather permitting, home games this week against Carthage (Monday) and Willard (Thursday).

"The kids battled," Neosho head coach Grant Berendt (former assistant at Helias Catholic) told Josh King of Neoshowildcatsports.com. "We tried to make it a little more interesting and exciting that I think the fans got their money's worth on this one. It's nice to come back home. I was here for four years with Doug Light and won big games here against some really good teams. To come back here and be a part of this, and play in this gym and beat the host, who's only lost one time since Christmas and playing very well right now, it's a big win for our girls.

"She's that type of player (Hayes). She's on everyone's scout report to try and take away. She's strong enough and she's starting to have a lot of patience, which is something that she always had the heart, the drive, and the effort but getting that patience about what she wants to do and where she wants to set her feet, it's helping her game big time."
