Neosho seniors Gavin Kelley and Jarvis Funk can add one more honor to their respective dossiers when the duo was named Academic All-State by the Missouri Football Coaches Association.

Funk and Kelley made the grade in Class 5.

Nominations must meet the following criteria: Player must be nominated by their head coach, who must be a current MFCA member; Player must be a starter on offense or defense or be a punter of a kicker in 70 percent of games; Player must be sophomore, junior, or senior.

Then, beyond all that, nominees must also meet two of the following three criteria: Must score a 25 or higher on the ACT or 1740 on the SAT; 3.5 GPA or higher (GPA must be non-weighted); Must rank in top 10 percent of his or her class.

East Newton seniors Dustin McDermott and Caleb Coffey made it in Class 3.

Diamond junior Owen Gray made the grade in Class 2.
