HILLSBORO — The Crowder Lady Roughriders took one step closer to 20 wins for the season with a 86-65 win Saturday over Region 16 opponent Jefferson.

The Lady ‘Riders, who trailed 20-19 after one quarter to the winless in Region 16 play Lady Vikings, seized control of the contest with a 26-11 score in the second quarter.

Alex Vogt led a balanced Crowder offensive attack with 16 points, while sophomore guards Michaela Mack and Coley Ickes tallied 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Zahria White added nine points, Maegan Bandimere and Elle Williams eight each, Morgan Crawford seven, Tori Coulter five, Aubrie Ayers four, and Sydney Linny and Bethaney Gilkey two each.

Vogt and Ickes each grabbed six rebounds, while Bandimere and Ickes each knocked down a pair of trifectas, Crawford had four steals and two blocked shots, and Mack dished out five assists.

Crowder (19-7, 5-2 Region 16) returned to action Monday in a crucial Region 16 contest against Mineral Area and the Lady ‘Riders also welcome nationally-ranked Moberly to Bob Sneller Gymnasium on Wednesday. Moberly owns a 27-0 overall and 8-0 Region 16 record.

By the way, after leading NJCAA Division I for most of the season, Crowder ranks second in both made free throws (510) and free throws attempted (759). Collin County leads in both categories with 561 makes and 790 attempts.
