KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The No. 8-ranked Crowder Roughriders completed a four-game sweep and extended their winning streak overall to nine games with a pair of wins Saturday over MCC-Maple Woods, 19-5 and 15-9.

Over the last six games, the Roughriders have scored 87 runs (that’s over 14 runs per game) and 61 over their four-game sweep of Maple Woods.

In the opener Saturday, Crowder scored four in the first, two in the second, four in the fifth, three in the sixth, and six in the seventh. Maple Woods plated three in the second and one each in the fifth and seventh.

In the nightcap, Crowder scored one in the first, one in the second, three in the third, five in the fifth, one in the seventh, and four in the ninth. Maple Woods scored three in the first, one in the third, three in the seventh, and one each in the eighth and ninth.

Leading the Crowder offense in the first game was catcher Brinson Williams, who scored three runs and had four hits and five RBI. Williams homered and hit three singles, and he picked up three of his RBI on a homer in the seventh.

Frielin Cabrera had a huge first game with six at-bats, five runs scored, two hits, and three RBI, with a single and a double among his at-bats.

Drew Reilly added three hits and three RBI, with a pair of singles and a double. Luke Price hit a pair of singles and had a pair of RBI, and fellow sophomore Cameron Witt had two RBI.

Ross Carver went four innings for Crowder and he allowed three runs (all earned) on four hits with seven strikeouts and three walks.

Sophomore reliever Jack Jumper finished off the game, with two runs allowed (both earned) on five hits and he struck out two and walked one. Jumper has been solid all season for Crowder.

In the nightcap, Cabrera homered, singled, and drove in four runs. Williams led the 14-hit attack with three and Cabrera, Kobe Morris, Tyler Duncan, and Price joined Williams in multi-hit performances.

Crowder starter Bryce Bartlett left the game after only facing three batters and the ‘Riders had to rely on their bullpen for the next 8 2/3 innings.

Brett Brockinton allowed two runs (both earned) on one hit over 2 2/3 innings, and he struck out one and walked four. Chase Kyzer allowed one run (earned) on two hits over 3 1/3 and he struck out four and walked three. Colten Weber allowed no runs on two hits over 1 1/3 and had two strikeouts and two walks. Tyler Gregg finished it off with one run (earned) on one hit over 1 1/3 and he had two strikeouts and two walks.

Crowder (21-5, 8-0 Region 16) returns to action Tuesday at home against No. 7 Connors State, a team Crowder just defeated 13-9 down in Oklahoma.
