Former Neosho High baseball player and current North Central player Austin Wren definitely made the grade his first year of college.

Wren earned the required 4.0 GPA to earn NJCAA All-Academic First Team honors, one of 860 student-athletes on the first team and one of 3,856 overall.

First team players own 4.0 GPAs, second team from 3.8 to 3.99, and third team from 3.6-3.79.

During his freshman season on the field, Wren put together a 1-0 record with a 8.14 ERA and he recorded 18 strikeouts and 20 walks over 21 innings and 12 relief appearances.

The Pirates finished their season 16-38 overall and were swept in a best-of-three series by top seed Crowder in the NJCAA Division I Region 16 tournament at Roughrider Field. Wren pitched in the final game of the series, playing at home again.
