ROGERSVILLE — The Seneca Indians definitely like a 4-2 score.
They should after consecutive victories against Big 8 Conference foes McDonald County and Logan-Rogersville.
That 4-2 win Tuesday against McDonald County gave the Lady Mustangs their first loss after six wins to start the season.
That 4-2 win Thursday over Logan-Rogersville gave the Lady Indians a three-game winning streak, a perfect 3-0 week, and a 4-5 overall record.
On Thursday, with a 1-0 lead after one in the second, Seneca plated three runs in the fourth.
Mekaylee Beard started the Seneca rally with an one-out single and then Grace Johnson’s double and Ali Kohler’s walk loaded the bases with Lady Indians.
Mady Dunbar’s RBI groundout and Sierra Lannon’s two-run single provided the scoring.
Logan-Rogersville managed only single runs in the fifth and sixth, and the Lady Wildcats stranded seven runners against Seneca pitcher Chelsea Beville.
Beville earned the win by allowing two runs (both earned) on eight hits over seven innings and she struck out five and walked one.
Beville earned three wins on the week, against Carl Junction starting the week on Monday.
Offensively, Beard led the way with two hits and Johnson, Kohler, Kaden McKnight, and Lannon rounded out the six hits. Johnson and Kohler each collected doubles and Johnson scored a pair of runs with her walk beginning her journey around the bases in the second.
Seneca’s three-game week began Monday against Joplin and the Lady Indians close out the week Tuesday against Marshfield and Thursday against Monett, two Big 8 schools. The Lady Cubs are a traditional conference and district rival, and the defending Class 3 state champions.
