Shawn Lewrick picked up the win for the Blue Dragons tossing all six innings. He gave up four hits, struck out four and walked two.

San Jacinto 13, State College of Florida 5
The No. 1 team in the NJCAA polls, San Jacinto (Texas) made an opening statement that they could be the team to beat in the JUCO World Series.

The Hornback brothers, Riley and Ryan, combined for two home runs and 8 RBI in the first three innings and sparked the Gators to a 13-5 victory over State College of Florida in front of 7,372 fans in the second game Saturday.

Riley Hornback hit a grand slam in the first inning and finished with 5 RBI on the game. His brother, Ryan, hit a two-run homer in the second inning and the Gators went up 7-0.

State College of Florida (37-14) got back a bit thanks to back-to-back home runs from Austin Chubb and Tyler Rocklein to make it 8-3 in the fourth inning.

San Jacinto got five runs in the seventh inning, keyed by Jarrett Higgins’ two-run triple, to pull away and lock up the run-rule win.

Sean Nolin, a 48th round pick by the Mariners last spring, tossed seven innings to earn the win. He gave up 10 hits, five runs, struck out six and walked three. He improved to 12-0 on the year.

Faulkner State 12, Temple Texas 6
In the longest game of the day thus far, the Faulkner State Community College Sun Chiefs picked up a 12-6 win over Temple Texas in the third game of Saturday at Suplizio Field.

It was the first game all day that didn’t end on a run-rule, though, there was a chance, but a bad hop on a grounder led to two runs in the seventh to prolong the game the full nine innings.

It was the first game all day that didn’t end on a run-rule, though, there was a chance, but a bad hop on a grounder led to two runs in the seventh to prolong the game the full nine innings.

Temple College went up 2-0 in the first inning, but Faulkner State (Alabama) came back with five straight runs to grab a lead. The Sun Chiefs (38-19) broke a 2-2 tie on a key error by Temple. Andrew Prichard doubled to drive in a run, and on the play an error allowed him to score. Leading 5-2, the Leopards (37-24) got RBI singles by Jonathan Gonzales and Zach Cohen to make it closer in the bottom of the fourth inning.

That, though, was as close as Temple got. Faulkner State scored two runs in the fifth inning on a Josh Huggins two-run homer, and five runs in the seventh inning made it 12-4. The only RBI in the seventh inning came on a Randall Kizer two-run single. A bases-loaded walk, an error and a wild pitch accounted for the other runs. Josh Fein got the win, throwing 3 2/3 innings of relief, giving up two runs and striking out three. Fein and Joseph Hernandez combined to throw 5 2/3 innings of two-run ball.

College of Southern Nevada 13, Pitt (N.C.) Community College 5
The hype was around Bryce Harper, the No. 1 draft prospect by Baseball American and ESPN.com.

However, it was his teammates that got the big hits as College of Southern Nevada won 13-5 over Pitt (N.C.) Community College Saturday night in front of 10,339 fans at Suplizio Field.

Six of the team's 13 runs came from homers in the game. Marvin Campbell hit a three-run homer in the second that gave the Coyotes a 3-1 lead. In the fifth inning, Gabe Wiedenaar hit a solo homer and then Trevor Kirk hit a two-run homer to give CSN (50-14) an 8-2 lead at the time.

Pitt (41-12) rallied a bit in the sixth inning, making it 8-5, but had three runs kind of given away. A sacrifice bunt was the first out, then an out was recorded at third base on a ground ball and then another was thrown out at home.

Donn Roach, a Southern Cal signee, earned the win for CSN.
