Bradley Argabright, an outgoing senior at Olpe (Kan.) High School, has signed a letter of intent to play both basketball and football at Pittsburg State University in 2010.

Argabright (6-1, 175) will play wide receiver for coach Tim Beck’s Pitt State football program this fall, before joining coach Kevin Muff’s basketball program as a guard this winter.
Argabright garnered first-team Kansas Class 2A All-State honors in both sports as a senior during the 2009-10 academic year.

In football, he averaged 112 receiving yards per game and caught 15 touchdown passes while leading Olpe to an 11-1 record and a state playoff appearance. Argabright also recorded seven interceptions as a safety on defense and he registered seven special teams touchdowns – five on punt returns and two on kickoff returns.

As a junior in 2008, he helped the Eagles to a 13-1 record and the Class 2A state runner-up finish, earning honorable mention All-State recognition.

“Bradley is a very versatile athlete,” Beck said. “He excelled in three sports in high school.  We still have to decide what position best suits him on the football field in college. He could be a wide receiver or a safety, but I expect he’ll come into preseason camp as a wide receiver.  Bradley has good ball skills and good hand-eye coordination and he has tremendous work ethic.”

In basketball, Argabright averaged 18.1 points, seven rebounds, four assists and four steals per game, while guiding the Eagles to a 21-3 record and a third straight Class 2A state tournament appearance.

He finished his basketball career as a two-time All-State performer. Argabright earned second-team All-State honors as a junior in 2008-09, helping OHS to a 23-1 overall record.

“Bradley is an outstanding athlete with a passion for becoming the best at whatever he does,” Muff said.  “This competitive attitude and strong work ethic will make him an outstanding athlete at Pittsburg State. He will play the wing position for us in basketball and should become a solid perimeter player as he progresses through the adjustment of elevating his game to the college level.”

Additionally, Argabright captured Class 2A state championships in the 800 meters as well as the 3,200 meter relay in track & field as a junior in 2009.  In all, he medaled nine times at the state meet during his prep days.

Bradley is the son of Mike and Carla Argabright of Olpe.
