The honors keep rolling in for the Crowder College Roughriders baseball team.

On Wednesday morning, under the shadow of the Tatum Bell Tower at the Crowder College campus, State Rep. Kevin Wilson (R-Neosho) honored the Roughriders and Crowder College with a resolution paying tribute to the team’s first-ever appearance in the NJCAA World Series.

The Roughriders finished with a 1-2 record in the 2010 NJCAA World Series, played in Grand Junction, Colo.

“It is my honor to continue to recognize the achievements of Crowder College,” Wilson said. “I don’t think people realize what we have in our own backyard. We have a college with excellent academics, faculty, students and athletics. I can’t be more proud of this institution, its board, its staff, faculty and students.”

Crowder College head baseball coach Travis Lallemand said the support from the college’s faculty and staff, students, and especially the community, has been overwhelming for his staff and players.

“Everyone has been so supportive,” Lallemand said. “To have this honor from the state has meant a lot to the players and the coaches.”
