Chants of “Let’s go ‘Riders” filled the air as the Crowder College Roughriders baseball team pulled away from the college shortly after noon today.
Parents and Crowder College faculty and staff gathered in front of the Arnold Farber Building to greet the team and send their best wishes with them. Then the team and coaches boarded the bus, and led by the Highway Patrol, Neosho Fire Department and Crowder Security, the bus headed for the NJCAA World Series held this year at Suplizio Field in Grand Junction, Colo.
Crowder President Dr. Alan Marble told the group that the home team would be cheering for them.
"Forty years and six presidents and I'm the first one to get to send a group off to the World Series," Marble said.
The ‘Riders play their first game 7:30 p.m. Sunday night against Iowa Western Community College.
