Wells signed a deal with the Chicago Cubs for $530,000 late Monday night, beating the MLB deadline for draft picks. Wells has the highest bonus for any seventh round pick this year.
“When he called I didn’t know what it would be, but he told me he was going to go ahead and sign.”
