To say it was easy may not be accurate, but the Diamond Wildcats sure made it look that way.
The Wildcats didn’t allow a single opponent to go over 27 points in the three-game NEO A&M tournament.
Saturday, Diamond got a 56-25, title game victory over Wyandotte, Okla.
In that game, Jared Huffman led the way with 18 points. Diamond dominated from start to finish. Wyandotte never scored more than seven points in a quarter throughout the entire contest.
Other scorers for Diamond were: Logan Myers 8, Ryan Jinks 7, Kyle Heman 6, Trent Hayes 5, Trent Olsen 4, Chance Hardy 4 and Scott Corn 4.
Friday, the Wildcats defeated the Roland JV team, 57-23.
In that game, Heman led the way with 12 points. Other scorers were: Olsen 9, Huffman 9, Myers 7, Jinks 7, Hayes 6, Corn 5 and Hardy 3.
“We played great defensively throughout the entire tournament,” Diamond coach Josh Cook said. “Nobody scored more than 30 points on us. We just need to continue to get better. We are playing with great effort and intensity, we just need to work on cleaning some things up.”
Thursday, Diamond dominated Afton, Okla., 58-27. In that game, Heman and Huffman both scored 19 points to lead the way for Diamond.
Tuesday, Diamond (12-2) will host East Newton for a non-conference matchup.
