Amazingly enough, Diamond only had two scorers break double figures in their game against McAuley.

It’s amazing because of the final score — 60-9, Lady Wildcats.

Stefani Thomas had 15 points and Megan Wilson had 11 in the rout of McAuley.

“We definitely did some good things tonight,” Diamond coach Brian Brimacombe said. “I played all 11 kids that I had dressed out.”

The Lady Wildcats were in complete control from start to finish in this contest.

“A lot of individuals played well, we really didn’t run our offense that well tonight it was a lot of one-on-one stuff,” Brimacombe said. “That’s good to have (for when our offense breaks down) but we still have to run our stuff better.”

Other scorers for Diamond were: Mychael Strausbaugh 8, Shayla Jones 7, Katie Littlefield 7, Asia Mahan 5, Heather Wilson 4 and Hannah Dodson 3.

Friday, Diamond takes on Southwest in the Thomas Jefferson Tournament semifinals. Oddly, the Thomas Jefferson Tournament is being played in Diamond this year because Thomas Jefferson couldn’t field a full team this winter. Southwest advanced to the semifinals with a 70-26 win over Sarcoxie.

“We are going to have to run our offense much better Friday,” Brimacombe said. “They are big and physical. Of the four games we’ve seen, they definitely look like the best team in the tournament so far.”
