Patriots earn tough win over Ash Grove

East Newton stopped an early season losing streak on Friday with a hard-fought, 38-33 win over Ash Grove in Granby.

Tucker Anderson led the way with 14 points for the Patriots in a game where points were at a premium for both teams.

“I thought that, defensively, we played outstanding,” East Newton coach Barry Yocom said. “This was by far the best game of the year for us defensively. And on offense I felt like we moved the ball very well and we did a good job being patient.”

Other scorers for East Newton were: Andrew Hightower 7, Clayton Harrell 6, Sam Swartz 4, John Hansen 3, Jaron McCully 2 and Colbey Thomas 2

Monday, the Patriots will take on Pierce City in Granby at 6 p.m.
