The Neosho Wildcats got their duals season off to a good start on Tuesday, earning wins over Branson and Seneca at Seneca High School.

Against Branson, the following wrestlers for Neosho earned victories:
• Lewis defeated Hall by pin at 3:15
• Buttram defeated Hulland by pin at 3:24
• Rodriguez defeated Bergland by pin at 2:38
• Sam Williams defeated Zigmund by pin at 1:34
• Rimo Elwise defeated Brogan by pin at 3:58
• Pogue defeated Martinez by pin at 3:18
• Townsend defeated Adams by pin at 4:20
• White defeated Nosalek by pin at 2:53
• Lopez defeated Barnes by pin at 5:00

Neosho beat Branson by a final score of 66-14.

Against Seneca, results were as follows:
• Roark defeated Buttram by 6-0 decision
• McGarrah defeated Lankford by 10-2 major decision
• Rodriguez defeated Vangunda by pin at 1:51
• Sam Williams defeated Wasson by 3-1 decision
• Jared Brock defeated Trevor Sill by 11-2 major decision
• Byrne defeated Elwise by pin at 1:25
• Townsend defeated Eads by 14-6 decision
• Hailey defeated Jones by pin at 3:06
• White defeated Butler by pin at 51 seconds
• Jacob Brock defeated Perez by pin at 1:03

Neosho junior varsity wrestlers went undefeated at the competition as well.

• Faussett defeated Kohler (Seneca) by pin at 1:37
• Franco defeated Williams (Seneca) by pin at 4:39
• Branstetter defeated Trelov (Seneca) by 16-8 major decision
• Elledge defeated Crain (Seneca) by pin at 2:36
• Faussett defeated Lipe (Seneca) by pin at 2:49

“I was proud of the kids. You could definitely see that in the course of just a couple of days, we’ve improved on some things since the Neosho Tournament,” Neosho wrestling coach Jeremy Phillips said. “That’s all we can ask as a coaching staff is that kids learn from their own shortcomings and learn from their own weaknesses.”

Neosho will next travel to Jefferson City over the weekend to compete in the Missouri Duals.

Friday, the Seneca Indians will travel to Carl Junction for a dual with the Bulldogs.
