The Neosho Wildcats were mere seconds away from exacting revenge from an early season loss to Seneca Tuesday night.

With only 15 seconds to play and the game tied at 52, Seneca guard Daniel Noah, who was quiet all night, hit a turn around jumper from the right baseline that proved to be the game-winner in a 54-52 win over Neosho.

“It was a hard fought contest from start to finish,” Seneca coach Will King said. “It really could have gone either way. I am proud of our kids for battling the way they did. It was a tale of two halves for sure.”

In the first half, Neosho outscored Seneca 31-24. But the Indians used a 19-10 third quarter to take the lead and held serve in the fourth.

“In the first half, we were the aggressors,” Neosho coach Ben Ponce said. “We were getting into the paint and scoring buckets. We were doing a good job of getting it to our bigs and our guards did a good job of attacking the basket. That’s why we were up seven at the half. Seneca did a great job in the third quarter of forcing transition and they shot 11 free throws in the third quarter alone. That was the big difference.”

Ethan Murray led all scorers with 21 points for Neosho.

Other scorers for the Wildcats were: Johnny Lowe 9, Tyrell Hembree 9, Logan Davidson 6, Pearce Craig 5 and Blake Nagurne 2.

For Seneca, Elias Roelfsema scored 12 and Kyler Ng had 10.

Other Indians to score were: Dalton Lindsey 9, Logan St. Clair 6, Zack Kelly 5, Chance Smith 4, Noah 4, Payton Rawlins 3 and Bradley Jumper 1.

Both teams’ next game will be at the Neosho Holiday Classic on Dec. 27. Their opponents are yet to be determined.
