The second and third day of the 6th annual Joplin Paige Neal/Christina Freeman Memorial Tournament saw the Neosho Lady Wildcats softball team split four games.
Friday afternoon, the Lady Wildcats fell to Blue Springs 7-2, before bouncing back with a 12-0 win in four innings over Seneca.
The tournament wrapped up Saturday with Neosho going 1-1 on the day against Kansas City area schools. An early morning loss to Ray-Pec was followed by a victory over Park Hill South.
Brittany Copeland and Hailey Geller both had RBIs in the team’s 7-2 loss to Blue Springs early Friday at MSSU’s softball fields. Later that afternoon, the Lady Wildcats romped over Seneca.
Morgan Rathmann scored four runs and had three RBIs for the team. Jordan Scott, Shea Wyatt, Geller, Copeland and Kortlyn Wilkey all had the RBIs for Neosho in the victory.
The Lady Wildcats played in a close game against Ray-Pec in the opening game Saturday, but the Lady Panthers pulled away late to win it.
Through five innings of play, Ray-Pec held a 4-3 lead, before pulling away with five runs over the last two innings.
Geller had three hits, including a triple, and scored twice for Neosho. Brooke Hulsey had three hits and two RBI.
The Lady Wildcats scored one run in the third, fourth and fifth innings in the second game — the seventh place contest — against Park Hill South.
Hulsey, Sami LaRose and Ashley Gilion all contributed RBI hits for Neosho (3-4) in the win. The victory went to Quinn Hobbs, who allowed three hits and struck out two.
Neosho plays at McDonald County Monday.
