For his first varsity start at quarterback, Lockwood’s Issac Lasater sure had a big day.

The sophomore debuted by throwing five touchdowns passes and running for another as Lockwood rolled to a 49-14 victory over Diamond.
Lockwood scored five touchdowns in the first half and built a 34-0 lead by halftime.

In the first quarter, Lasater had a 31-yard touchdown and a 24-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Urtado. Earlier in the quarter, Ryan Sconce scored on a 1-yard run.

In the second quarter, the Lasater and Urtado combination led to two more touchdowns, from 18 and 9 yards out.
Lockwood went up 41-0 by the end of the third quarter when Brady Sears caught a 24-yard touchdown pass from Lasater.

The Wildcats got on the board in the fourth quarter with a pair of touchdown runs. Jarren Reinhart scored on a 47-yard touchdown run and quarterback Tyler Horton kept the ball and ran for an 18-yard touchdown.

Prior to those scores, Lasater capped his day with a 23-yard run.
Diamond finished with 187 yards rushing, led by Reinhart’s 90 yards on six carries. Horton had 57 yards on 10 carries.

The Wildcats were limited to only 28 plays on offense.

“When we had the ball, we moved it well,” Diamond coach Adam Davied said. “We averaged seven yards of carry, but we didn’t really  have the ball a whole lot in the game.”

Lockwood, mixing in a steady diet of short passes, controlled the clock. Then in the fourth quarter they started to run the ball more.

“He (Lasater) played well and they threw the ball all over the place,” Davied said. “We are really young at defensive back, we are starting a freshman and a sophomore at cornerback.”

Diamond returns to action and stays in Spring River Valley Conference play Friday by hosting Miller at 7 p.m.
