The Seneca offense proved to be pretty proficient running and passing the ball and that in turn equaled to a dominating 42-0 victory over visiting Nevada Friday night at Earl Campbell Stadium.
In winning the team’s home opener, Seneca standouts Allen Frost and Jake Rhoades, the team’s running back and quarterback, respectively, had a hand in six of the team’s seven touchdowns against Nevada (0-2).
“We played really well both games, but we came out with the win in this one,” Seneca coach Rob Townsend said. “We felt we got better this week.”
Rhoades passed for three touchdowns, while Frost ran for two and caught another one.
By halftime, Seneca (1-1) had raced out to a 35-0 lead and had control of the game.
Frost had a pair of touchdowns in the first quarter. The first was a 55-yard pass from Rhoades. He added a 1-yard run later in the quarter. Thaddeus Foley hit both of the point after attempts to make it 14-0.
The Indians rolled up 21 points in the second quarter to further extend their lead over the Tigers.
Frost scored his third touchdown of the game, this one on a 3-yard run.
Rhoades threw a 5-yard touchdown to Marcus Carruthers and a 9-yard pass to Eric Esposito and the Indians were up by five touchdowns at halftime.
Seneca scored its final touchdown in the fourth quarter when Marty Mailes toted the ball over the goal line for a 7-yard touchdown run.
On defense, Mailes had an interception.
Frost paced the Seneca offense by rushing for 123 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns. Catching the ball, he had two for 77 yards, giving up 210 yards of total offense. Rhoades was 6-for-8 passing the ball for 142 yards and half of his completions went for touchdowns.
