The 2008 season came to an end for the Neosho Wildcats tennis team Thursday.
The Wildcats didn’t have anyone in singles or doubles play advance to the championship matches in the Class 2 District 6 Tournament at Cooper Tennis Complex.
The best performance of the day came from the doubles team of Bo Mahr and Matt Garrity. The team opened up with a win by default over the Parkview doubles team of Zach Taylor and Ethan Hollingshad, as the latter didn’t show up for the match.
In round two, the Neosho duo picked up a win over Hillcrest’s Robert Lyons and Ross Fuller, winning 6-2 and 6-1.
In the next round, Glendale’s Brian Neu and Drew Young won in two sets, 6-0 and 6-0.
At No. 1 singles, Chad Dwyer advanced to the second round. The senior opened with a victory over Nixa’s Kyler Ennis, 6-1 and 6-1. In the second round, he lost to Joplin’s John Lazenby, 6-0 and 6-1.
At No. 2 singles, Evan Clark dropped his opening round match to Joplin’s Chris Ingle, 6-1 and 6-0.
At No. 1 doubles, Casey Carr and Derek Boice lost their opening round match against Kickapoo’s Michael Wolski and David Simons, 6-0 and 6-3.
