The Neosho Storm competed in four games in Pittsburg, Kansas, on Jan. 29. The Storm went undefeated for the day and took first place. The Storm played Pittsburg, Webb City, and two Skywalkers all-star teams. They outscored opponents 131-67.
With the four wins over the weekend, the Storm improved their record to 33-4, including six tournament championships.
The team of sixth grade girls defeated the Pittsburg Dragons in the first game of the tournament 30-16. The Storm easily beat Skywalkers (Blue) in the second game 33-10. The Storm then defeated the Lady Cardinals of Webb City for the fifth time this season by a final of 36-14. In the championship game, the Storm had a tough victory against Skywalkers (White), winning 32-27.
Emilee Anderson led the Storm in rebounds for the entire tournament with 31. Allison Burr led her team with 60 points and 22 steals. Cami Roy led with 6 assists to help her team.
The Storm scored 25 of their points from the free throw line during the tournament. Two girls had exceptional performances at the charity stripe. Makayla Hayes and Ashley Talley both went 5-for-6, with Hayes going 4-for-4 in the final half of the championship game.
Individual statistics for the tournament were: 15 points, 31 rebounds, and 6 steals for Anderson; 60 points, 9 rebounds, 22 steals, and 1 assist for Burr; 2 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals, and 1 assist for Kali Godfrey; 4 points and 11 rebounds for Amadiyah Hames; 13 points, 23 rebounds, 8 steals, and 1 assist for Hayes; 2 rebounds for Gabee Rainwater; 20 points, 11 rebounds, 11 steals, and 6 assists for Roy; 9 points, 12 rebounds, 6 steals, and 2 assists for Ashley Talley; and 8 points, 18 rebounds, 13 steals, and 3 assists for Jessica Van Lear.
