The Diamond girls basketball team entered Monday’s game against Seneca as one of the hottest teams around.
Sporting a 5-0 record, the Lady Wildcats were the only undefeated team, boys or girls, in the Daily News coverage area.
That record is now 5-1, after Seneca bounced back from two straight wins and won in impressive fashion, winning 65-24.
Seneca, from the start, dominated this game. In fact, one quarter of playing saw Seneca score almost as many points as Diamond did the entire game.
The Lady Indians got some big shots in the first quarter from Taylor McDaniel, who drained three 3-pointers and scored 11 points. Jordanne Wright added six points in the first quarter as well.
Seneca (3-2) tallied 23 points in the first quarter and had a 23-9 lead over the Lady Wildcats.
The Lady Indians continued to add to its lead, going up 29-11 after a 3-pointer by Erin Esposito midway through the second quarter.
At the break, Seneca was up 34-16.
