The Neosho junior high seventh grade football team started its season Tuesday at home and dropped a doubleheader to the newly-formed Joplin North/East team.
East Middle School just opened up this year. Joplin split its four middle schools up between the two teams.
In the “A” game, Joplin won 20-6 and prevailed 22-0 in the “B” game.
In the “A” game, Neosho had a touchdown run by quarterback Nathan Moser of eight yards in the fourth. The 2-point conversion failed.
Moser finished with 62 yards passing. His favorite target was Logan Stuart, who had 29 yards receiving.
Dayton Bolton led the defense with seven tackles. Phillip Markovich grabbed an interception for the Wildcats.
In the “B” game, Jeremy Antill led Neosho with seven tackles.
Calvin Coon was the team’s top passer – he was sharing quarterback duties — and Juan Franco was the top receiver, with a seven receiving.
