The longest road trip of the season thus far was not the best for the Crowder College soccer team.

Playing Region XVI foe Jefferson County College, Crowder lost 4-0.

The Viking scored two goals in each half to pull out the victory over the Roughriders.

Jefferson is now 4-2 overall and won its Region XVI opener.

Crowder fell to 0-3-1 and is 0-1-1 in Region XVI play.

“We played pretty good,” said Crowder coach Brad Smith. “We made some dumb mistakes and gave up goals.”

The Vikings held a 11 to 3 advantage in shots on goals in the first half and finished with 24 shots on goal, while Crowder had 9.

Chris Higgins had 15 saves in the goalie box for the Roughriders.

Crowder returns to action Friday, playing at Neosho County CC at 7 p.m.
