Missouri Southern women’s basketball coach Maryann Mitts has announced the addition of Marcus Moeller to her coaching staff effective immediately. Moeller replaces Chris Kendrick who took a head coaching position at Fayette (Mo.) High School.

Moeller is a Joplin native and graduated from College Heights Christian School where he was a three year letter winner in basketball, as well as a four year letter winner in both soccer and golf.

He went on to Ozark Christian College in Joplin where he was a four year letter winner on the men’s basketball team, helping the Ambassadors to a 24-16 record this past season. Moeller earned an associates degree in Christian Education from OCC and will finish up his Math Education degree from Southern.

“I am completely humbled and honored by the opportunity to join the staff of the Missouri Southern women’s basketball program,” Moeller said. “I look forward to being part of the winning tradition that Coach (Maryann) Mitts and Coach (Ronda) Hubbard have established.”

“Marcus is a welcomed addition to our basketball staff,” Mitts said. “Since my arrival in Joplin, I have had the opportunity to watch Marcus grow from a young teenage boy to an accomplished basketball student-athlete at Ozark Christian. He is of very high character and has a unique passion to coach the game of basketball at the collegiate level. Our basketball program will greatly benefit from Marcus’ youthful energy and his dedication to excel in the coaching profession.”
