Two additional statutory rape charges have been filed against former East Newton High School girls basketball coach Josh Long.
On Monday, an amended complaint was filed in Jasper County Circuit Court charging Long with three Class C felony charges of second-degree statutory rape. Court records indicated one of the alleged incidents took place on June 12, while two others occurred on May 1.
Long, who lives in Oronogo, is represented by Dee Wampler III, a prominent Springfield attorney.
An arraignment has been set for 9:05 a.m. Sept. 3 in Division 5 Associate Circuit Court in Joplin.
Judge Richard D. Copeland will preside.
Long was still employed with the Carl Junction R-1 School District when the first two incidents allegedly took place. He was hired by the East Newton School District as a girls basketball coach, but had not officially begun his duties when the first allegation came to light. In the wake of that charge, Long resigned from East Newton.
