Last Saturday, the Neosho Youth football league took the field for the fourth time this season. The Neosho Gold teams played at Bob Anderson Stadium against the visiting Lamar Tigers. The Gold teams went 0-4 against the Tigers. The Neosho Black teams played on the road at Webb City. The Black teams split, going 2-2 against the Cardinals on the day. This weekend, both the Neosho Gold and Black teams will be on the road. Gold will travel to East Newton while Black will take on Joplin Blue at Junge Stadium.
BLACK
THIRD GRADERS
Despite a strong game rushing the football by Sam Sullivan, the Neosho Black third graders fell, 30-8 vs. Webb City Red.
Sullivan finished with 68 yards on the ground on only four carries for Neosho.
Sullivan also led the Wildcats on defense with six tackles. Jeremiah Larson chipped in with four stops on defense and Jacob Ewing had three tackles.
FOURTH GRADERS
Behind a trio of strong individual defensive efforts and an exciting aerial attack, the Neosho Black fourth graders topped Webb City Red, 18-12 Saturday at Cardinal Stadium.
Quincey Willis was all over the field on defense, recording 15 tackles. He was one of three Wildcats to finish in double-digits in stops as RJ Long and Kolton Sanders had 12 and 10 tackles, respectively.
On offense, Willis led the Wildcats with 54 yards rushing and a score. Sanders added 12 yards rushing. Where the offense did the most damage, however, was through the air. Willis completed 3-of-6 passes for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Kaden Dickens caught every pass for Neosho Black.
Sam Cook had 78 yards on two kick returns in the win.
FIFTH GRADERS
The Neosho Black fifth grade squad got a huge defensive play as time expired to top Webb City Red 20-14 in perhaps the most thrilling game of the weekend.
With seconds left to play, Colin McCracken, Ryan Slade and Brok Logan stuffed a Webb City running back and the line of scrimmage. Tyler Sullivan and Trevon Letts then came in late and stripped the football and Letts returned it 95 yards for the winning touchdown with no time left on the clock.
On offense, McKay Harris had a big day. He accounted for 218 total yards including kickoff returns and scored two long touchdowns. Harris ran for a 69-yard score and later caught a 50-yard pass from Mason Ray for a touchdown. Cade Lyerla also ran for 19 tough yards for Neosho.
On defense, the Wildcats were led by Letts with five tackles and the game-winning fumble recovery for a touchdown. Isiah Richardson tallied four tackles in the win as well while Drew Osborn, McCracken, Lyerla and Logan all had three stops.

SIXTH GRADERS
In the biggest defensive struggle of the day, the Neosho Black sixth graders dropped a 12-0 decision to Webb City Red.
Kaleb Larson led the Wildcats offense with 14 yards rushing. Zach Jennings finished 3-for-4 passing for 68 yards. Jackson Collinsworth had one catch for 52 yards while Theo Morrison had one catch for 10 yards. Larson had the last catch for six yards.
On defense, Hank Selig led the way with eight tackles and a fumble recovery. Davon Willis had nine stops and Larson finished with seven tackles.
GOLD
THIRD GRADERS
There were no stats turned in for the Neosho Gold third grade team. They were defeated by Lamar, 16-12.
FOURTH GRADERS
The game between the Neosho Gold fourth grade team and the Lamar Tigers was so evenly matched that four quarters weren’t enough to settle it. Lamar got a big stop at the end of the game and defeated Neosho, 18-12 in triple overtime.
Gage Kelley finished with 79 yards and a touchdown while Isiah Santiago ran for 29 yards and a score. A.J. Van Lear finished with 13 yards rushing and completed two passes for 20 yards. Santiago caught a five yard pass and Jace Parmley had a 15-yard reception.
Hunter Box led Neosho defensively with seven tackles. Dylan Collins had an interception for Neosho to go along with two stops. Zane Persinger had six stops and Parmley, Santiago and Cameron Kirschner had five tackles each.
FIFTH GRADERS
The Neosho Gold fifth graders fell to Lamar, 22-8 Saturday afternoon.
Dylan Jordan paced the Neosho offensive attack with 102 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. Payton Ezell had 45 yards on five totes and Braxton Barnes chipped in with 22 yards on four touches.
Defensively, Neosho was led by Ethan White with four tackles.
SIXTH GRADERS
The Neosho Gold sixth grade squad fell to Lamar, 30-6 after a tough day on offense.
Jarvis Funk scored the team’s lone touchdown. Brady Wise led the Wildcats with 58 yards rushing. Funk completed one pass to Wise for 53 yards.
On defense, Gavin Kelley led Neosho with eight tackles. Trey Jones had seven tackles and Wise had six stops in the loss.
