East Newton, which hiked its District 15 record to 3-6 overall, got an RBI double down the third base line from Blake Hill, which scored Colby Brown from second base with what proved to be the game-winning hit.
In the bottom of the 10th inning, Mason Whitman shut down Monett and the game wrapped up in three hours and 15 minutes.
East Newton had 14 hits in the game, led by Hill and Clayton Miller with three hits each. Hill drove in three runs in the game, while Miller had an RBI. Both players had a double.
Cory Hogan had two hits for the Rockets. Brown had one hit and drove in two runs.
Jake Simpson, the only non-East Newton player on the roster, had two hits and started on the mound. Simpson struck out six in six innings of work.
Whitman, who was 2-for-3 at the plate, pitched from the sixth inning through the 10th inning to earn the victory for the Rockets.
