Since Kelsie Woodward was 3, she has been in tumbling classes.
From June 26-July 3 of this year, her tumbling experience paid off.
Woodward placed third in the Junior Olympics National Competition, held in Virginia Beach, Va.
“I think that it is a really big accomplishment for me,” said Woodward, now 14, a soon-to-be freshman at Diamond High School. “I went two years ago (to nationals). This is the first time that I medaled.”
Woodward – who attends the Flip Shop, Joplin — said she competed against 66 other participants during the Olympics.
As far as how she got to the Olympics, she placed in Missouri’s competition and then went onto the nationals.
Woodward noted she has placed her medal in her room and enjoys tumbling.
“It really helps me with my sports and everything,” she said. “And with tumbling, I can go anywhere with it.”
Other sports she is involved with include cheerleading, track and some softball.
“I am going to go as far as I want with it, but I want to be a doctor,” said Woodward.
