Granby, Mo. -

Darrell Gross, of Gross and Associates of Republic, Mo., made a presentation Tuesday on a TIF proposal during the Granby City Council’s regular meeting.

“He wants the council to look over his proposal has outlined to do and the council decides if they want to do those things or transfer that money into something that they want to do,” Granby Mayor Donna Fullerton said. “And then have the TIF board meeting, and then have them put their stamp of approval on how we plan to spend the money.”

Gross outlined numerous items in his proposal, including sidewalks, streets, public parking lots, the city maintence facility, and parks.

The proposal includes renovation of existing sidewalks, and adding new sidewalks along Main Street.

“The area targeted, but not limited to, is Church Street in front of the community building,” Gross said in his proposal.

Street projects are also mentioned.

“Certain streets within the redevelopment area are in need of proper upgrading and resurfacing and the addition of the curb and guttering to provide for storm water control,” the proposal states.

The parks proposal calls for “expansion, upgrade and renovation to the existing parks within the redevelopment area may be undertaken to provide improved facilities which will promote and improve commerce and retail activity within the area.”

After the presentation, the council decided to table the issue.

In other business, the council heard from three members of the Granby ball committee.

“We had a meeting and we all agreed that we would try to do the best things for the community, for the kids especially in this community, try to get the attendance for signups back up again, get the revenue flowing back again,” said Frank Ames.

The previous president of the committee was Wayne Jordon, who was asked to resign.

“We still don’t have everything that we need to kind of get our feet back on the ground,” said Scott Whitman, committee member.

“We don’t have any financial statements, we don’t have anything to show for signups, except for this year’s sign up sheets,” Ames added. “The building was cleaned out, there were no food provisions, anything left in that building. Now there is the new bases and things that were bought and purchased. We know that there is no bill on those, but we just don’t know what all went on this year. Everything that we voted on this year, they went ahead and did on their own or did not do.”

Fullerton asked the committee what they wanted to do.

“Dissolve the committee tonight, reestablish with the existing members that are here,” Whitman said. “That way we start fresh here. If we bring up the “x” amount to 12, we will bring them to you. But let us get started so that we can established a new preside, vice president, and a treasurer. That way we can start fresh.”

The baseball committee, which is to be a 12-member board, is responsible for running the ball program, and is in charge of concessions and tournaments. The city maintains the field by mowing.

The council agreed to dissolve the old committee and a new committee was formed, some of whom were on the old committee. The members are Whitman, Angie Powell, Ames, Stacy Brewster, Jamie Kelsey, David Brummett, Jason Bradshaw and Janet Sheppert.
