The usually dependable Crowder Roughriders’ bullpen struggled to close out a win and visiting Eastern Oklahoma State College rallied to win 11-8 Tuesday afternoon at Crowder College.

The Roughriders had problems with the Mountaineers (26-19-1) all day with runners on base, but over the final two innings the visitors scored eight runs to rally from an 8-2 deficit to stun Crowder.

“We had an absolute collapse of our bullpen for the first time all year,” Crowder coach Travis Lallemand said. “Our bullpen hadn’t let us done once this year, but I’d rather it happen now than in the (Region XVI) tournament.”

Crowder (32-16) got five runs in the second inning to help the team grab a 6-0 lead at the time.
The big hit in the inning for Crowder was a 2-run single by Dennis Fuller. Adam Davey and Kyle Zimmerman had back-to-back RBI?double. Bubby Williams capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly to make it 6-0.

Crowder held an 8-6 lead before the Mountaineers scored five runs in the fifth inning. Ben Kozma singled in a run and Jeff Scardino followed with a single to tie the game at 8-8.

Casey McCollum added another RBI?single and Jesse Santo hit a sacrifice fly to make it 10-8. Brady White added the 11th and final run on an RBI single.

Trent Wise was tagged with the loss for Crowder, throwing 1 1/3 innings, giving up five runs, but only one earned. Don Lisi, Mike Kickham and Dan Golden all saw time on the mound in the game. Lisi had six strikeouts, while Kickham had five strikeouts.

Crowder plays at 1 p.m. Saturday at home against North Central Missouri College in a Region XVI game.
