A 39-point second half fueled by a swarming defense that frustrated Marshfield and caused turnovers led the Neosho basketball Lady Wildcats’ first win of the 2009-10 season Thursday night at NHS gymnasium.

Neosho, down 23-20 at the half, came out on fire in the third quarter and outscored the Lady Jays 39-29 in the second half en route to a 59-52 victory — the first win under new head coach Lance Robbins.

Neosho junior Kayln Vlasin led three Lady Wildcats in double figures with 26 points. Sophomore Ashley Gilion and junior Brooke Hulsey both netted 12 points for Neosho, which evens its record to 1-1 after Tuesday night’s heart-breaking overtime loss to Joplin in the opener.
