An Exeter, Mo., woman was hurt when a piece of ice slid off of an on-coming tractor trailer and went through her windshield on a Newton County roadway Monday morning.


An Exeter, Mo., woman was hurt when a piece of ice slid off of an on-coming tractor trailer and went through her windshield on a Newton County roadway Monday morning.

Joyce M. Powell, 71, was taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin for treatment.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the accident happened at 10 a.m. Monday on U.S. 60, seven miles east of Granby. Powell was traveling west on the roadway in her 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis when ice from an oncoming tractor trailer went through her windshield and struck her.
Powell was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, a patrol report noted.
