Richard (Rick) Lloyd Rea, age 51, of Oronogo, Mo. passed away Friday July 30, 2010 at his home from a sudden illness.


Richard (Rick) Lloyd Rea, age 51, of Oronogo, Mo. passed away Friday July 30, 2010 at his home from a sudden illness.

He was born Aug. 18, 1958 in Carthage, Mo. to Lloyd Earl and Geneva Mae (Alumbaugh) Rea.

Rick was a lifelong area resident and attended and played football for Webb City High School. He was employed by TAMKO Roofing Products, Inc. as a supervisor in Joplin for more than 25 years and Big Smith Manufacturing, Carthage, Mo. for many years. He raised cattle, farmed, gardened, enjoyed hunting and fishing, riding horses, working on his farm and spending time with his family. Rick was a simple man with simple needs and a true asset to his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn S. Rea of the home and their children Michael K Rea of Springfield, Mo, Nathan L Rea and his wife Teresa S. (Messer) of Oronogo, Mo. and one new great-grandchild.

Rick is also survived by his mother Geneva Mae (Alumbaugh-Rea) Marshall of Oronogo, Mo.; siblings, sister Theresa Lynne (Rea-Branham) Carver and husband John of Carl Junction, brother Anthony (Tony) Earl Rea and wife Debby of Carthage, Mo., sister Sheryl Jean Rea (Smith-Palmer) and husband Robert Williams of Sand Springs, Okla. and brother John Robert Rea and wife Cindy of Webb City, Mo., two half-brothers Kevin Rea of Neosho, Pat Rea and wife Brenda of Neosho; and a half-sister Karen (Rea) Clark and husband Corby of Goodman and step-brother Gary Marshall of Carthage; and three step-sisters, Linda McGuirk of Webb City, Janice Johnson of Waggoner, Okla., and Marsha Coonce of Joplin and numerous nieces and nephews who loved and admired him.

He was preceded in death by his sister Cynthia Rea and father Lloyd Earl Rea and step-father Ervin Milburn Marshall.

A celebration of his life will be held for family and friends Monday, Aug. 2, 2010 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. The outdoor event will be at the home of his sister and her husband Theresa and John Carver, 29122 Fir Road, Carl Junction, Mo.
