Six people were arrested and a large quantity of methamphetamine was seized after deputies with the Newton County Sheriff's Office served a search warrant in northern Newton County.

At about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, deputies were dispatched to 3369 Greenwood in Joplin to serve a search warrant. Names of those arrested were not released this morning.

Those arrested included Shawn Moore, 51, from Columbus, Kan., on a felony assault on a law enforcement officer and possession of methamphetamine; Zekie Stewart, 50, from Joplin on an active felony warrant; Elizabeth Patton, 47, from Joplin on possession of methamphetamine; Amanda Consolver, 31, from Joplin, on possession of methamphetamine; Robbin Baldwin, 52, from Joplin, on possession of methamphetamine; and Ricky Russell, 57, from Joplin, on charges of distribution of a controlled substance.

The six remain in custody at the Newton County Jail at this hour, pending the filing of formal charges, expected later today.
