Dalan Merriman drilled a pair of home runs and struck out two in the seventh inning to pick up the save as the Seneca Indians concluded the regular season with an 8-7 victory over Webb City in varsity baseball action at the Seneca Baseball/Softball Complex on Thursday.

Dalan Merriman drilled a pair of home runs and struck out two in the seventh inning to pick up the save as the Seneca Indians concluded the regular season with an 8-7 victory over Webb City in varsity baseball action at the Seneca Baseball/Softball Complex on Thursday.

Merriman smacked a solo homer in the third inning before blasting a three-run shot in the fourth to tie the game at 5-5. The Indians went on to plate two more in the fifth and another in the sixth.

The Indians took a 1-0 lead on Merriman’s blast in the third, but the Cardinals answered with five runs in the top of the fourth to take a 5-1 lead. Seneca got a run back in the bottom of the fourth and Merriman connected on his second homer to tie it.

The Cardinals came right back with two runs in the fifth, but the Indians had a response for that with two of their own to tie it 7-7. Payton Rawlins would go on to drive in the go-ahead run with a hit in the bottom of the sixth before Merriman closed it out.

Rawlins finished with two hits, including a double, and had an RBI. He also started the game on the mound and struck out five while allowing two hits in three innings. Zach Horine tossed three innings in relief.

Merriman finished with two hits and three RBIs. Dylan Snow doubled and finished with two hits. Jacob Brubaker had a double and an RBI, while Brayden Larson had a hit.
Webb City won the B game, 15-1.

The Indians (11-14) will try to keep their season alive when they take on McDonald County in the Class 4, District 11 Tournament at 11 a.m. Saturday in Monett.
