The McDonald County Mustangs were hobbled by the Lamar Tigers 71-0 in Big 8 Conference high school football action Friday night.

Lamar dominated throughout, scoring 57 points in the first half and adding 14 more in the third quarter before essentially running out the clock in the fourth.

Tripp Tucker of the Tigers had a 1-yard carry in the first quarter for the initial score, with Todd Morrow having the successful PAT boot.

Then Derek Henderson had a 36-yard touchdown run, with Morrow again having the PAT. Tucker later carried for 30 yards and the TD, while the point after attempt failed. And Anthony Wilkerson caught a 45-yard pass from Tucker for another TD, with Trenton Mooney having the pass conversion.

In the second quarter, Matt Whyman ran 22 yards for the touchdown, but the kick failed. Mooney recovered a fumble in the end zone for a 2-point safety, while Luke Hardman had a 28-yard run to the end zone and Morrow had a success PAT boot. Tucker then carried the ball 6 yards for one TD and 45 for another, but only one Morrow point after attempt was successful.

In the third quarter, Whyman had a 3-yard touchdown run and Cooper Lucas scored a touchdown for the Tigers. Morrow had successful boots on both.

Now 6-0, the Tigers will face East Newton at home next week, while McDonald County will travel to Seneca to face the Indians. Kickoff for both games is 7 p.m.
