After the oddity of playing an 8-Man team the previous week, Diamond High School’s football team played one of the top-flight teams in Class 2 in a District 3 matchup on Friday night.

Top-5-rated Willow Springs defeated the Wildcats, 27-0, as Diamond had its modest two-game winning streak snapped.

The Wildcats, who had won their three of the final four regular-season games entering the postseason, finishes at 4-6.

Last week, Diamond beat Greenfield, 55-28, but they found life a lot rougher against the Bears.

Lowered enrollment numbers forced Greenfield to drop to 8-Man.
