A Neosho man was critically injured while walking along Daugherty Road early Friday morning, when he was struck by a vehicle.

A Neosho man was critically injured while walking along Daugherty Road early Friday morning, when he was struck by a vehicle.

Neosho Police Department Lt. David Kennedy said George Pennell, 44, was walking westbound along Daugherty Road, with a friend near Neosho Boulevard, when he was struck was a westbound vehicle at 12:34 a.m.

Kennedy said the driver of the vehicle, Bryttanii Bowers, 23, Neosho, stated that she was unable to see the pedestrians due to low light conditions.

Pennell was transported by Newton County Ambulance to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin with injuries that Kennedy described as critical. He said neither Bowers nor the other pedestrian were harmed.

Kennedy said the accident remains under investigation, and any new details will be released.
