Viola Mary Jane (Long) Rowe-Beatty, 92, Neosho, passed Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at Jamestown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Rogers, Ark.

Viola Mary Jane (Long) Rowe-Beatty, 92, Neosho, passed Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at Jamestown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Rogers, Ark.  

She had been living in Bentonville, Ark., with Cindy and James Smith for six months. Viola was born Nov. 23, 1921, in Granby, the 10th child of 12, to William Thomas Long and Florence (Baker) Long. Viola retired with 41 years of service from Southwestern Bell Telephone. She earned a commendation for helping customers with overseas calls. Her telephone friends called her “Rowdy Rowe.”

She was an active member of Rebecca’s Lodge, Edgewood Bowling Team (State Champs in 1960), Neosho Freeman Auxiliary Volunteer and Cancer Society Fund Volunteer. She had been a member of Neosho First Baptist Church and the Neosho United Methodist Church. She was a life member of Neosho ABWA and was honored in 1993 as “Business Woman of the Year.”

Viola married Gerald Wayne Rowe in 1939, and he preceded her in death in 1966.  

She is survived by two children, Shari Rowe Janss and husband, Steve, Neosho, and Ronald Wayne Rowe and wife, Lynette, Carthage.  

Viola married Neal Guy Beatty, in 1989, and he preceded her in death in 2007.  

Her greatest joy was being “Grandma Rowe” to her family.  

Survivors include three granddaughters, Lucinda “Cindy” (Rowe) Smith and husband, James, Bentonville, and their children, Brendan and Bryston; Leslee (Janss) Kennedy and husband, Jarod, Neosho, and their children, Logan and Kendra; Roni Roxanne (Rowe) Asher and her husband, Raymond, Kansas City; a great grandson, Jonathan Paul and wife, Kelsea, Neosho, and son, Lochlan; one sister, Leta Juhl and husband, Allen, Las Vegas; a brother-in-law, Clarence Bowler, Neosho; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends she dearly loved.  

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Bowler.  

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Neosho, Rev. Randy Frazier and Patricia Greenwood will officiate. The casket will be closed at service time and will remain closed. Interment will follow in the Neosho IOOF Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Doug Sparks, Pat Mabrey, Pat McNeil, Jonathan Paul, Logan Kennedy, Brendan Smith and Bryston Smith.  

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Clark Funeral Home in Neosho. Contributions in memory of Viola may be made to Bright Futures-East Newton, c/o Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, 64850.
