The "Eggs and Issues" series of public meetings with state lawmakers from Southwest Missouri continues next week with its second meeting of the legislative session in Webb City.
The event is a brunch slated for 10:15 a.m. Friday, March 13, at the Route 66 Events Center, 21 Webb Street, Webb City. The cost is $10 and people attending are asked to RSVP to 673-1154 or e-mail leeann@webbcitychamber.com.
This event is a chance to hear directly from lawmakers from Jasper, Barton, Newton and McDonald counties about what's happening in the 2015 General Assembly in Jefferson City.
The lawmakers who generally attend this series of four monthly meetings are State Rep. Tom Flanigan, Carthage; State Rep. Mike Kelly, Lamar; State Rep. Charlie Davis, Webb City; State Rep. Bill White, Joplin; State Rep. Bill Reiboldt, Neosho; State Rep. Bill Lant, Joplin; and State Sen. Ron Richard, Joplin.
Together, these Republicans represent all of Jasper, Barton, Newton, McDonald and Dade counties and the far southern edge of Cedar County.
The meeting will start with a social period, then a brunch. Then each lawmaker will speak on what's happening in Jefferson City and what's happening with the areas of government they specialize in.
Southwest Missouri currently has several lawmakers in influential positions in the State House and Senate, including Senate Majority Leader Richard, who plays a big role in determining what legislation is heard and voted on by the full Missouri Senate, and Flanigan, who as Budget Committee Chairman is leading the group that is writing the state's $27 billion, fiscal year 2016 budget.
• Sen. Richard is the Senate Majority leader and is vice chairman of the Senate Administration Committee and Gubernatorial Appointments committees and chairman Rules, Joint Rules, Resolutions and Ethics committee.
• Rep. Flanigan in addition to his role on the Budget Committee, serves on the Employment Security and Communications committees and the Joint Committee on Legislative Research.
• Rep. Kelly is vice chairman of the Government Efficiency committee, vice chairman of the Select Committee on Labor and Industrial Relations, vice chairman of the Select Committee on Education and serves on the Ways and Means and the Workforce Standards and Development committees.
• Rep. Davis  is chairman of the Veterans committee and serves on the Employment Security, Select Committee on Social Services and Utility Infrastructure committees.
• Rep. White is the vice chairman of the Civil and Criminal Proceedings committee and vice chairman of the Pensions committee and serves on the Health Insurance and Health and Mental Health Policy committees.
• Rep. Reiboldt is chairman of the Select Committee on Agriculture and serves on the Corrections and Consumer Affairs committees and the Appropriations Sub-committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Natural Resources.
• Rep. Lant is chairman of the Workforce Standards and Development committee and the Joint Committee on Child Abuse and Neglect and serves on the Transportation; Emerging Issues; Property, Casualty and Life Insurance; Select Committee on Labor and Industrial Relations and the Joint Committee on Transportation Oversight.
These meetings are sponsored by the Chambers of Commerce of Carthage, Webb City, Joplin and Neosho. The April meeting will be held in Joplin and the May meeting will be held in Neosho.
The Legislative session lasts until mid-May.
