Two people are dead and a child seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash that took place at 10:55 a.m. Thursday on Missouri Highway 59, two miles north of Noel.

A patrol report posted late Thursday night did not list the names of both of the deceased, but said both were pronounced dead at the scene by McDonald County Coroner B.J. Goodwin. The report did state one of those killed was the driver of a 1998 Mercury Mystique, Ashley D. Tharp, 28, of Pineville. The other person was an occupant in Tharp’s car.

Injured was Ben Tharp, 7, of Pineville, who was airlifted to Cox Hospital in Springfield, Mo., for treatment of serious injuries.

The state patrol said the crash happened as a southbound 2006 Ford F150 truck driven by Donavan L. Ryan, 34, of Pineville failed to negotiate a curve and struck the Tharp Mercury head-on.
