Neosho City Council will host a public hearing regarding adoption of the 2015-2016 fiscal year budget at the outset of new business at Tuesday’s first bi-monthly meeting for September. Council meets at 7 p.m. in council chambers of city hall, 203 E. Main St.
Council will hold the first reading of a bill to adopt the budget, which will go into effect Oct. 1. Other new business includes approvals for a KPM engagement letter, a fireworks display for the Neosho High School football homecoming activities, an America Media Investments radio tower renewal, the purchase of Secure View Mobile Forensics software and the acceptance of two police department grants.
Old business is second and third readings of a bill to declare certain personal property accumulated by the police department as surplus and set forth the method for its disposal.
Bids will be considered for Triplex mower reels for the municipal golf course, Civic lighting under the public relations/events coordinator and fiscal-year 2015 Sensus meters and a dump truck for public works.
Council solicits citizen involvement to fill several positions. Four vacancies exist, with one re-appointment request received so far, for seats on the Parks Recreation and Golf Course Board. Four vacancies exist, with two re-appointment requests received, for seats on the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Following the regular meeting, council will move into closed, executive session to consider legal matters.
