One search warrant lead to another and then another for the Newton County Sheriff’s Department, which recovered more stolen guns and other property while placing another Neosho man in jail.
“This search warrant we served (Thursday) night is a continuation of the ones we’ve been doing,” Chief Deputy Chris Jennings said. “We recovered several more firearms, at least two of which we’ve confirmed were stolen, I believe out of Barry County. We recovered a few more items of stolen property. Some of them also were from Barry County and then also drug paraphernalia.”
Sheriff’s deputies arrested two people and recovered drugs, stolen weapons and other property in two search warrants that were served Wednesday in Neosho. The third raid was a continuation of the other two. Jennings said he is unsure if others are forthcoming. Items from one burglary in Barry County were found at each of the three locations.
Steven W. Vanlue, 55, was arrested at his 20822 Norway Road home, near Route HH, Jennings said. He is charged with receiving stolen property and unlawful possession of a firearm and was held in the Newton County Jail on $100,000 bond.
