On Friday, a tremendous crowd joined the Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce in welcoming their newest member, the Webwood Assisted Living Center on Waldo Hatler Drive.

Derek and Tracy Martin, Dana Martin, Bobby and Judy Martin along with Max and Charlotte Roark are the co-owners of the new facility, which will accept residents beginning in early September.

The 25-bed facility offers spacious one and two bedroom suites, an open kitchen, dining, and living area, several outdoor living spaces with rural views, a library, hair salon, and quiet room. Located adjacent to the Neosho Municipal Golf Course, Webwood Assisted Living Center provides a rural type setting with close proximity to Neosho's many businesses and services.

"It's a happy day for us," Derek Martin told the crowd who assembled for the ribbon cutting ceremony. "We're glad you could come and be part of our celebration. This has been quite a process."

The groundbreaking took place on June 21, 2017 but the idea has been in the works for about five years.

According to Missouri State Representative Bill Reiboldt (160th district) who presented the owners with congratulations on behalf of the Missouri House, the chain of event leading to Webwood began about five years with a phone call from Judy Martin, one of the owners.

Derek Martin, during his welcoming remarks, said the idea behind Webwood was his sister, Dana Martin's brainchild.

"We wanted to make it (Webwood) a great place to live but also to work," Derek Martin stated.

He also said that local residents are encourage to stop by the facility once it's fully open to enjoy a cup of coffee or visit with the owners.

The goal of the Webwood Assisted Living Center is to offer the older generation a dynamic environment where they can still live independently with staff support and a variety of activities available.

Staff will be present around the clock daily. The services and amenities offered to residents include restaurant style dining for meals, medication management, organized recreation and social activities, laundry, linen and housekeeping services, personal care services, a hair salon on site, massage therapy, and a private dining room for family events. Some of the suites are also pet friendly.

Steve LaRue is the executive director of the facility.
