An anchor can be several things that help secure something. Most think of a ship or boat anchor that is let down in the water to hold its position. In building a house there are bolts put in to anchor outside walls.

An anchor can be several things that help secure something. Most think of a ship or boat anchor that is let down in the water to hold its position. In building a house there are bolts put in to anchor outside walls.
There are nails and screws that are placed in positions to keep places secure and in place. Sometimes anchors do not hold because of the force that is exerted against them when under stress from storms or many other things. Most people, though, trust those types of anchors. Really that is all they have.
But there is one anchor that cannot be moved; the position God holds. He is the only solid rock that can never be moved. Actually He has no equal. There is one true God, one true secure anchor in this life and for eternity.
Yet many people are legalists. They anchor themselves to themselves, to the various things of this world, a world that has many problems but God has none. Their security is what they can do and when they have to face storms they can only cast their anchor in their own works. But they can never save themselves.
Only God’s Son is the true anchor. Jesus is the Savior, the anchor in life. There is no great power, higher authority or more secure place than in the Son of God, Jesus is; to all who want what they can never find in this world, a world that is crumbling and moving, more insecure.
But with Jesus Christ you can count fully. Many offer but no one else can provide the peace, hope and security that Jesus does.
