Neosho police are trying to identify a suspect who failed to stop for an officer early Wednesday.
A pursuit began at 2:02 a.m. when the officer noticed that the registration did not match the vehicle on which it was displayed. When he tried to stop the vehicle, the driver drove out of the Walmart parking lot and west on U.S. Highway 60, according to Chief David Kennedy.
“The vehicle slowed near Kodiak Road, but then proceeded west on Highway 60,” Kennedy said. “Once the officer left the city limits, the vehicle turned north on Hammer Road.”
The pursuit was discontinued at that point. The Newton County Sheriff’s Department recovered the suspect vehicle in the vicinity later in the morning.
“The vehicle was not reported stolen,” Kennedy said. “We’re looking at video to identify the driver.”
