Warrants have been issued for the arrest of a Joplin man who failed to appear Monday for his arraignment in Division 1 of Newton County Circuit Court on several charges, including second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer.
Quindell Curtis Stanley, 28, also is charged with first-degree property damage and resisting arrest in reference to an Aug. 6 incident at Sunrise Inn, 3600 S. Rangeline Road.
Stanley is accused of stealing a wedding ring, a wallet containing $50 cash and several ID cards from the purse of a desk clerk at the motel. Police allege he tried to drive away from one Joplin police officer by driving under a motel awning, causing $1,500 damage, and drove at another officer who was setting stop-sticks to slow down the vehicle.
A probable-cause affidavit noted Stanley was able to get away, but was arrested a short time later at another Joplin motel.
Bond for the failure-to-appear charge was set at $1,000.
