A Stella man was jailed Thursday for providing a false declaration to a Neosho policeman and for his own safety.
Police first received a report of an extremely drunk man walking on Oak Ridge Drive. The reporting party later advised that the man was staggering into traffic on Industrial Drive and almost was hit by a vehicle.
He was located at about 2:45 p.m. on Missouri Highway 59 at Lyon Drive. The officer reported the man was extremely intoxicated. When asked who he was, he could not provide identification, but did provide the officer with a false name.
He told the officer he was walking to Stella. Instead, the officer booked Timothy Lee Dillow, 50 of Stella into the Newton County Jail. He is charged with making a false declaration.
A Neosho High School student was referred to juvenile authorities after an officer responded to the school at 10:44 a.m. Thursday.
“He posted a picture of himself with a gun to his head,” Lt. Jason Baird said. “He said, ‘Life’s got me contemplating.’ It was not a real gun. It was a mold of a gun.”
